Completed in 1999, Renfield was painted in tempera. Howard Pyle was the founder of the Brandywine School of Art, whose attendees included Andrew Wyeth’s father, illustrator and painter N.C. Wyeth. The room in Renfield was a room in Painter’s Folly where Pyle frequently taught his students.
